Street Cruising

High Rollin'

You have your big horsepower car people, and you have your show car people, and then their is Johnny Mangifesta.  Now I am not saying Johnny doesn't like a bit of grunt under his right foot, and I am not saying that this machine is not in show quality condition, because it definately is, but Johnny likes it on the luxurious side, as you are about to see.

Now this is a 2002 Series WH HSV Grange. The colour is Jet black with some gold metallic etc - It is a bit of a bitza paint combination.  The way Johnny came about the car is interesting.  He was driving down the road in Mackay, and saw it on the opposite side of the road, and went back and bought it.  The engine is a stock LS1, but there is an OTRCAI on the way, and the rest of the drive train is also, though I think the 308 rwhp and 14.2 second quarter mile says that maybe Johnny might have been pulling my leg.... Most of the work that has gone into the engine bay so far has been cosmetic.

The artwork that is this Grange is not under the bonnet, it is in the rest of the car.  Let's start with those stunning wheels.  They are 20 x 8.5" DaVinci Lox, riding on Nitto 235/35/20 rubber.  The suspension has had an upgrade too, with a set of custom front struts and Superlow King Springs.  The rear has a set of Polyair bags.  He has a premium HSV brake package to stop it on a 20 cent piece.  The interior is customised standard HSV Grange, with 2 gauges in  custom fibreglass woodgrain.  The tweeters are also in the woodgrain.

The stereo in the Grange is awesome.  The head unit is Pioneer Avic - It plays MP3, DVD, has a navigator and is voice activated.  As Johnny said, "It does everything but blow you".  But the head unit is only the beginning.  There are 2 x Fusion 4 channel amps and 3 Fusion monoblock amps, pumping through 3 x 15" HD subs, Fusion 3 ways in the boot, Fusion 6" door speakers and Fusion 6" splits up front.  What a mouthful.......and an earful.  There is a Crossfire capacator, and 5 x 7" Option Audio LCD screens.  Everything in the boot is in custom fibreglass and black leather finish.

Johnny strikes me as the sort of guy who wants something unique, and the Grange is that.  Before that he owned a heavily modified VT station wagon.  You don't see alot of modded wagons either.  Johnny's dad Claude was a big influence in his love of cars, having owned over 300 cars himself.  Yep that's right.  300.  Johnny would like to thank Peter from Innovation Audio, Steve from PJ Customs, the boys at Aussie Tyres and Phil from Acacia Ridge Interiors......Oh and Mum, Dad and his brother Chris.

Johnny is a member of both Prestige Players and Highrollers car clubs.  Funniest thing about Johnny and this car is he is definately not a Holden boy.  Johnny likes to drive a car that is unusual, and you are not going to see many of these on the road, and wants to make it clear that this is not a Statesman.  As I said before, this is not a big horsepower car, a show car or a luxury car, it is an awesome combination of all 3.
