Monaro Man
Grant Richards is the Monaro man. At least that is what his website says. www.monaroman.com You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that Grant has stuck quite a few hours of time and effort, not to mention a 'few' bucks into his Devil Yellow, 2004 VY Series 3 CV8 Monaro. The body kit on the Monaro is factory, but there are several other little subtleties about this car that get your attention.

The undercarriage of the Monaro is completely painted and the engine bay has had some work. The bonnet catch and spring have both been chromed, as has the cruise control base plate, clutch reservoir bracket, alarm catch, strut brace and rear brake cradles. The throttle body and brake reservoir skirts are polished, as well as the billet caps and battery cover. It is all topped off with stunning 2 piece Monaro engine cover with CV8 badges and chev badges all round the car.

The engine itself is an LS1 5.7 litre V8. There is a 2-hole mod to air box, a GTS intake pipe, Maf tune, high flow air cleaner and PAC Racing 918 valve springs. The gearbox is the standard 6 speed and the diff is standard as well. The combination has been good enough to turn the dyno to 247rwkw (331bhp). The exhaust is a Redback HPC TRIY extractors into 2.5" exhaust with stainless high flow Magnaflow cats.

The interior of the car is standard black leather, with monogrammed floor mats. The stereo is standard issue for the Monaro and the instrument panel is graced with yellow gauges. The stoppers on this car are all customised too. AP Racing 4 piston calipers with 330mm colour coded slotted rotors are up front, while at the rear are chromed and detailed standard calipers with 289mm colour coded slotted rotors. All braided lines. The Monaro rolls on a stunning set of AMG Quake 19" rims with 245/35/19 Hankook rubber.

Grant is a member of Sunshine Coast Commodore Club and you can see he takes a lot of pride in his car. He would like to thank Powertorque and Maroochy Exhaust for their efforts on building the car. He has more plans for the Monaro in the future too. He is planning on more polishing and chrome under the bonnet, including a polished PD supercharger and new clutch. It is great to see such a good quality, street legal tough cruiser.
