Improving A Classic

There have been some truly classic Holdens.  From the FJ, to the Bathurst Monaros and the GTS's.  One of the truly unique Holdens was the LS Monaro.  As unique as  the LS Monaros are, in the HJ model they got kinda stuck between 2 cars.  It has the front end of the HJ but the back of it still has the rear of the HQ Monaro.  Enter Justin Sheveleff and his LS Monaro.  Justin didn't like the standard rear on the LS, so he did what Holden didn't do.  He made himself a true HJ 2 door Monaro.  Justin took the HQ rear end off and with lots of hard work, grafted the HJ sedan rear end on, which I am sure you will agree, makes one hell of a good looking 2 door HJ Monaro.

The colour of the Monaro is a customised "Silver Dollar".  The body work and paint deserves a special mention on this car, and a big thanks goes out to Dave for the work on getting the car looking so good.  The only thing looking as good as the Monaro on the day was the lovely Tracey who came to share the spotlight.  I am sure you will agree they are both a stunning model.

This car is not only unique.  It can definately hold it's own down the quarter.  With the help of a quick shot of spray, it has been down the quarter mile in 11.01 at 124 mph.  Definately a tough streeter.  The engine is a 350 Chev stroked to 383.  Down the bottom is an Eagle steel crank, Eagle 'H' beam rods and Ross custom forged pistons.  Russell Jones did the work on the Edelbrock Alloy heads and the fuel comes in through dual Holley Blues. 3" Gonzos get the exhaust out.

All Trans at Currumbin supplised the Turbo 400 with all the good stuff and the 3500rpm converter came from the Converter Shop.  Aussie Diffs supplied the 9 inch with a full spooled 4.11 centre and 31 spline Moses axles.  The brakes come from an R31 skyline on the rear with DBA slotted rotors on the front.  The wheels are Cragar Prolites with American Racer 295/28s on the back and ET fronts on the front.  The suspension has all been customised by Justin himself.

The interior has been customised with CV8 Monaro blue leather, and the entire interior has been customised by Daltrim in blue and silver.  The boot is just as tidy as the inside as well.  The stereo is all Alpine Comp Series.

3 words accurately describe Justin's Monaro.  UNIQUE - In my opinion, Justin has made a great Aussie classic car even better.  It's a shame Holden didn't make this car from factory.  SHOW - All the work has gone into this car and it is as beautiful as it is tough - TOUGH - Getting down the strip in 11.01, this is one of the tougher street cars you are going to see driving around the place.  He doesn't mind getting around at Powercruise giving the car a good workout either.  Thanks from Justin go out to Aussie Diffs, Dally @ Daltrim, All Trans @ Currumbin, Darren, Russell Jones abnd Dave @ Body Works.  Justin is fairly particular about the Monaro.  Apparently the wife was a bit toey in it one night but he wasn't going to have any of that in the car.  I am not sure I would do the same, but one thing is for sure, this is a car that gets well looked after and has had quite a few $$$$ thrown at it.  Good work Justin
