Our Go-Fast-Girl for July is Janine Dunshea. Janine drive's this nice 2002 VU II SS Ute. And I definately mean she drives it. Janine definitely loves her car. Janine has always wanted a ute. Ever since she was a young girl sticking posters of Commodores up on her wall, she wanted a Commodore and for a long time, she has yearned for a ute.
The engine of course is your 5.7 litre LS1 , with a Powertorque Mafless tune and an OTRCAI. The gases escape through a set of Pacemaker 4 into 1 extractors and a twin 2 1/2 inch stainless steel system. The gearbox is a 4 speed auto and the diff gears have been converted to 3.9:1. This combo has turned the dyno to an impressive 248 kilowatts.....That is 337 horsies at the wheels for the more elderly readers (like myself)
The suspension is all Superlow Springs and standard shocks. The wheels are 19 inch XHP Jets rolling on 245/35/19 inch rubber. Brakes are standard.
The interior is standard black with red cloth inserts and the body kit is standard SS. The tonneau cover is a hardcover type and the tail lights have been replaced with VZ lights. The entire car has been debadged except for the bonnet logo. The stereo is an Alpine head unit, going through a Pioneer amplifier and a 12 inch Pioneer sub in a custom box. Up front are Alpine DD Linear splits.
Janine really is your textbook revhead. Straight after buying the ute, she drove it to Bathurst to watch the race and for Powercruise 10, it was her bed as well, at least until it started to rain. She is a proud member of Sunshine Coast Commodore Club. Janine would like to thank Jamie Smith and Michael York for all their hard work. If there is a cruise, run, rally or just a Sunday afternoon, you are probably going to find Janine on it. Powercruise, Cruise for Charity, she even graced our pages in the Cleveland Auto Spectacular story last month. The car has had a few low points as well. Just a few months ago the car was completely graffitied by some young blokes, but she was back in the saddle in no time. Janine is exactly who we look to feature here in Street Cruising.......Oh and I forgot to mention the title - I called Janine after I left her from doing the shoot to ask "Why have plates AMISS??" - The reply I got was very simple - "Because I am not a Mr"....Couldn't have put it better myself Janine
