Scooter's VL

Scooter's VL was supposed to be a general photo shoot just like any other... A tidy VL Calais - 1987 - Custom purple with blue pearl up top and the traditional Calais silver around the bottom.  Then Scott rang me and asked if I would mind if he brought a girl.  I of course said I didn't have a problem with that, but to my pleasant surprise, he showed up on the day for the shoot with these 2 stunners, Lizzie and Ash.  Getting hold of this Calais was not as simple as a quiet trip down to the car yard, Scott had quite a few problems getting hold of this car.

Scott was pretty keen to find a turbo VL Calais, and was willing to travel to find the right one, but he may have not been so keen if he knew how hard it was going to be to find one.  Scott found the VL on Carsales, in Melbourne.  He called the guy and arranged to fly down to there to pick it up on the weekend and booked his flights etc.  Then an hour and a half after he booked the flights, the guy called to tell him the car was sold.  Scott figured since he had already booked the flight, he might as well go and visit some relatives in Melbourne.  Meanwhile, he found another VL Calais, but naturally aspirated and decided to go for that instead.

On the night before he was heading to Melbourne, the guy with the turbo VL called back to say that the sale had fallen through, and the transaction was made.  He got down there, paid for the car and it wouldn't start.  Took a few more days of messing around but he got it back up to Qld.  So let's get down to what he went all that way for.  The VL has the standard RB30 with a mild cam and a  highflow T3/4 turbo with a GKTech intercooler.   The exhaust is a 3" from the dump pipe back.  The gearbox is a standard Jatco 4 speed box and Borg Warner diff with 3.45 gears and an LSD.  The combination has been good enough to get down the track in 14.5 seconds with 6psi of boost.

The suspension is all lowered 2.5 inches all round with King Springs on the front and Pedders at the rear, with Monroe Gas struts all round.  The wheels are 18 inch VY SS rims.  The brakes are drilled slottted rotors on the front with standard VL disks on the back with Bendix Advanced pads.

The interior has been completely redone in black leather, with VS HSV front seats out of a Senator, complete with the seat warmers and massagers.  Very classy.  The stereo is all Pioneer gear.  Tweeters and splits up front and 6 x 9s in the back, with 2 12" sub woofers and amp in the boot.  This is a solid car with a lot of potential for bigger things.  And if the VL isn't enough to get your attention, then maybe the lovely Lizzie and Ash are.  If you would like to get in touch with either of these girls for modelling work, just get in touch with me here at Street Cruising and I will put you in touch with them.
