Bribie SS
I found Brian's VZ SS ute on one of the car sites, and it looked tidy enough for a photo shoot, but it just looked like a tidy work ute. So you can imagine my surprise when this absolute beauty rolled around the corner. But believe me, I heard it well before I saw it. Brian comes from Drewvale on the southside of Brisbane and works as an electronics techician, and carts around quite a bit of cable so a ute is a necessity. But this is more than just an ordinary ute, as you are about to see.

A car of this quality, needed to be accompanied by a quality lady, and that is where the lovely Shay comes in. Shay comes to us from Promo Angels and is from the Bayside.

This Impulse Blue beauty is packing a Gen III LS1 with mafless tune and an over the radiator, cold air intake system supplied by CAPA. He runs Supercharged V6 style NGK plugs and Pacemaker Try-Y extractors. The exhaust is a twin 2.5 inch system with the 3rd set of Stainless steel cats. Apparently Brian wears them out in a hurry. Doesn't sound like a lot of mods, but this little set up has been good enough for a solid 323 horsepower at the wheels, and at his first and only attempt at drag racing, he managed to stick it down the track in 13.8 seconds.

The rest of the drivetrain of this beast is how the general made it. A 4spd 4L60E automatic, and a 3.9 Limited slip diff. The suspension has had an upgrade though, with the FE2 suspension getting dropped down on a set of King Superlow Springs. The brakes are the standard 320mm ventilated rotors with Ferodo calipers. All this rolls on a set of XHP Jets in 18 x 8 and a set of 235/40/R18 Nexen rubber.

Brian has been into cars for a while, but this was his first V8, which he only bought when he was 30. This was quite a rude awakening for him, as he struggled to get a handle on the 300 + horsies, and spent a bit of time spinning it around unintentionally. He has a good handle on it now though. Brian would like to thank Kent at Hi Torque for his help with the tuning, and Ross from R.A.C.E (reliable auto care & exhaust)

Brian still has plenty of plans for the ute in the future. A set of 20" rims are in the not too distant future, and they will need some decent rubber because there is a Pro Supercharger right at the top of Brian's shopping list as well. I really enjoyed this shoot and sitting down with a guy like Brian. And as usual, Shay showed the professionalism of Promo Angels by how easy she was to work with, even though the wind played havoc with her hair. One hell of a nice Saturday afternoon - A gorgeous girl, a real nice street cruiser with a good bloke behind the wheel.
